Store & Peddlers
Franklin, Louisiana
Imagine leaving your home every Sunday
night on foot, with a 60 - 80 lb. backpack. From Monday through Wednesday you would
"peddle" your goods in your sales territory. You would visit each territory once
every four weeks. Then Wednesday evening you would head home, still peddling along the way.
Sometime late Friday evening you finally make it home.
Think you have earned a day off? Saturday is spent in the store working and replenishing
your supplies since you will be leaving again tomorrow. That was the weekly routine for
Mayer Mayer and then his son Isaac. |
